About our rope

From Japan to Berlin, Made for You

Ready to tie: Our Tossa jute is sustainably sourced from Japan and hand-treated in Berlin with organic jojoba oil and eco-friendly soy wax—crafted by our team with care for your best shibari experience.

The kit had everything I could possibly need to start. What really made a difference for me was the digital learning path. The detailed guidance made it easy to try my first ties without feeling overwhelmed.

My go-to rope

Shibari Study’s pieces have already been inspected and cut to avoid all the twine joins and burrs, so I was happy to get my kit from them. When it arrived, I baked the rope to get rid of that light JBO/petroleum smell, and since then I’ve been tying with it every week– it’s really perfect.

Ogawa rope broke in beautifully

This Ogawa rope broke in so fast and became buttery smooth quickly without becoming thin. I gave mine a second singe after oiling, which gave it a deep golden color and really reduced the fuzzies. I like to break my rope in as uplines first, and by the time I ever touched a body with this rope it felt so good.

Love the drawstring bag

I got the bag for the cool design, but was so pleased when it arrived because of the quality. The material is thick and sturdy and it’s a great size for my rope kit. Going to get another one as a gift for my girlfriend.

Have been tying for years & love the beginner rope

I got this rope because I was looking for something JBO-free, and this delivered– beautiful, consistent, and no industrial smell. The lay is a bit tight, but it loosens with a little effort. I’m excited to see this rope break in and I can tell that it will hold up well over time.
